What is Killer Chefs?

Killer Chefs is a young startup on a mission to re-invent the way people eat at home to make 'eating in the new eating out’. We connect the best independent chefs to local foodies for a unique food experience direct to your door. So whether it’s for a dinner party, a night with friends or a romantic dinner, we have you covered.

How does it work?

You can order directly via the Killer Chefs app, available on iOS and Android. Simply select the chef/menu you fancy the most and order! Once the chef receives your order, they’ll be able to accept it immediately via instant bookings or they’ll have 24h to accept it. Once booking is accepted, the chef will start working on your menu to offer you the best dining experience possible.

Where can I book a chef?

At present, we are only operating in London.

Are all your chefs verified?

Yes, we take your security very seriously: we have a strict selection process for all our chefs. All our chefs are document checked, DBS checked and insured, so you can be 100% safe of whom you’re letting into your home. We demand the highest of standards from them and as a result we only work with chefs who take a real pride in what they do allowing us to guarantee the same level of service for every client. You’ll also be kindly asked to review your chef after your event: this will allow us to monitor and measure their performance and build their reputation via the app.

Which cuisines do you have?

We have it all! British, Italian, Mexican, French, Japanese, health conscious.. you name it, we got it.

Is there a minimum order amount?

The minimum order amount can vary depending on the number of people, the menu and ultimately the chef you’re ordering from. If there’s a minimum order amount, it will be displayed on the app when placing your order.

Is there a minimum or maximum number of people allowed?

Chefs are able to cater for small to very large party sizes. Generally, chefs are able to set those parameters and if there is a minimum or maximum number of people required per menu, it will be stated on the app and you’ll be able see it before you place your booking with the chef.
Please note, that due to current Government restrictions around Covid, chefs are only allowed to cater for groups of 6 or less.

Can I make changes to a menu?

Yes and no. Menus are specifically designed by the chef in order to offer the best experience and are priced accordingly. Therefore small changes are possible (especially if needed to accommodate dietary requirements or allergies), but it won’t be possible to pick a menu and later ask the chefs for major changes (e.g. ask to replace chicken with lobster or pasta with steak).

Can my gusts all pick different items from the menu?

No. This is unfortunately not possible. When you book, you are selecting a menu for all your guests and unless they have specific dietary requirements or allergies, all guests will have to eat the same meal.

What if I have dietary requirements?

If you or anyone in your party have specific allergies or dietary requirements and are concerned about any items on a menu, please always let the chef know. Chefs will always be able to accommodate specific dietary needs. After you’ve placed a booking, you will be able to message the chef directly and ask for specific changes.

How long in advance can I place a booking?

You can schedule your meal booking from 3 months down to generally a minimum of 24 hours before the booking date. However, this all depends on the chef and menu chosen. Some chefs/menus may require several days sourcing of ingredients, hence such short notice won’t be possible. Generally, we recommend to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Will the chef be buying all ingredients?

Yes, they’ll take care of the ingredients, preparation and service. All chefs are required to keep a high standard of service, this includes also the choice of ingredients.

Will the chef be using my kitchen equipment?

Yes, the chef will use your plates, cutlery and sometimes kitchen equipment (including pots, pans and utensils), so please make sure you have enough for the chef to prepare a meal for the party size stated. You can add a description and a picture of your kitchen in the app, so in case anything the chef requires is missing, the chef can come prepared.

My kitchen is small, can I still book?

Of course, as long as it’s well equipped and there is enough space on your worktop for the chef to cook. You can add a description and a picture of your kitchen in the app, so the chef can have a look at it and come well prepared.

Who cleans up?

All chefs are required to clean after themselves and to leave the worktop as much as all utensils they’ve used perfectly clean. However chefs are not required to do the washing up, if they don’t want to and can also leave before your event is over, provided that they have finished the service, all guests are satisfied and the kitchen is in good order.

When will the chef arrive?

This will depend on the menu prep time but you can always agree arrival time with the chef after you’ve placed your booking. Please make sure you’re in!

What is Instant Booking?

Instant Booking doesn’t require approval from chefs before they can be booked, so you can literally go ahead and book the chef. You can filter your search to only view menus and chefs that are available through Instant Booking. To be eligible for Instant Booking, you must complete your Killer Chefs account. There is no additional fee for confirming a reservation with Instant Booking. Chefs can always cancel an instant booking if they feel uncomfortable with the reservation within 24 hours of the booking being made. Instant bookings are automatically turned off when you try to make a booking less than 24 hours prior to the date selected.


Covid-19 Update

Our absolute priority is to offer the safest service possible to our customers and chefs and we are taking a number of actions to ensure everyone has the best possible experience. We are committed to food safety across every aspect of our business. All our chefs are experienced professionals and always practice health and hygiene-conscious food set-up, preparation and service. In light of current coronavirus concerns, we exercise even more precautions at every stage of the process. Our chefs have also prepared themselves by taking extra measures in order to carry out their work under optimal sanitary conditions. We will also ask that guests and Chefs keep as much distance between each other as possible during the event. We recognize the concern around food safety during this vulnerable time. If there are any special requests or accommodations that we can make for your group, please let us know. Our Catering Captains are trained and prepared to go above and beyond to ensure your satisfaction and to put your mind at ease. In light of the recent UK Government announcement, Killer Chefs will be offering its services for groups of up to 6 guests from different households or for larger groups of the same household, and until further notice. We are in daily contact with local health officials to make sure we are offering customers and chefs the most up-to-date guidance and safest service possible. It’s also important to note that the European Food Safety Authority has said that there is “no evidence that food is a likely source or route of transmission of the virus”. Questions about my booking

Can I request changes to the booking?

For any changes to the date, time and the number of guests, please contact our customer service via the in-app chat or send an email to Please note that in cases where your last-minute changes mean your chef can no longer make it, we may charge you a cancellation fee. For more details, please refer to our cancellation policy.

What if the chef cancels?

Our chefs are very reliable. If for any reason the chefs needs to cancel, Killer Chefs will notify you and will send you alternative recommendations according to your preferences and the previous booking. In the unlikely event that we cannot do so, we will refund you the amount that you have paid and issue a credit for your next booking as an apology.

What if something is wrong with my booking?

Our chefs will always do their best to keep you happy and to deliver the highest standard of service possible. However, we do understand that sometimes things can go wrong and there might be the odd occasion where a chef has not met your expectations. We always try to improve and we appreciate your feedback and for this reason, we have a dedicated team that looks after your entire experience, from the moment you place an order right through to it being served. I booked one of your chefs via a different provider or directly from their website and I am not happy with the service. How can I complain?

We do not take responsibility for any booking that’s not made via Killer Chefs platform directly. Therefore, even if you booked one of our Killer Chefs but not via us (e.g. a different provider, directly via their social media, their mobile phone, their website) app and you’re not happy with the service, we cannot do anything about it.

Prices and Opening hours

All prices quoted on the chef’s booking page are full and final, inclusive of transportation with no hidden fees. You can book with a chef between 8am to 11:30 pm, 7 days a week.
