What is Killer Chefs?


Killer Chefs is a young startup on a mission to re-invent the way people eat at home to make 'eating in the new eating out’. We connect the best independent chefs to people who want a nice meal, for a unique food experience directly in the comfort of your own home. So whether it’s for a dinner party, a night with friends or a romantic dinner, we have you covered.




How does it work?


You can browse and book chefs via our app. Go to App Store/Google Play and search for 'Killer Chefs'. Download the app and start exploring chefs. Simply select the chef/menu you fancy the most and order! More details here.




How much does it cost?


Prices are clearly displayed on the app and menus are preiced per head, so you are always able to see how much you spend ahead of booking. All prices quoted on the chef’s booking page are full and final, with no hidden fees. To help Killer Chefs run smoothly and to cover the costs of the products and services we provide, such as customer support, we charge a small service fee when a booking is confirmed.

What cities do you cover?


At present, we are only operating in London. Stay tuned for future updates!




Are all your chefs verified?


Yes, we take your security very seriously: we have a strict selection process for all our chefs. All our chefs are ID checked, DBS checked and insured, so you can be 100% safe of whom you’re letting into your home.




Which cuisines do you have?


We have it all! British, Italian, Mexican, French, Japanese, health conscious.. you name it, we've got it.




Is there a minimum order amount?


The minimum order amount can vary depending on the number of people, the menu and ultimately the chef you’re ordering from. If there’s a minimum order amount, it will be displayed on the app when placing your order. Can't find what you're looking for? Is there a minimum or maximum number of people allowed?


Chefs are able to cater for small to very large party sizes. If there is a minimum or maximum number of people required per menu, it will be stated so you can always check before you place your booking with the chef. Can't find what you're looking for? Can I make changes to a menu?


Yes and no. Menus are specifically designed by the chef in order to offer the best experience and are priced accordingly. Therefore small changes are possible (especially if needed to accommodate dietary requirements or allergies), but it won’t be possible to pick a menu and later ask the chefs for major changes (e.g. ask to replace chicken with lobster or pasta with steak).




Can my guests all pick different items from the menu?


No, this is unfortunately not possible even if the menu displays different alternatives. When you book, you are selecting a menu for all your guests and unless they have specific dietary requirements or allergies, all guests will have to eat the same meal.




What if I have dietary requirements?


If you or anyone in your party have specific allergies or dietary requirements and are concerned about any items on a menu, please always speak to the chef. Chefs should always be able to accommodate specific dietary needs. Allergens will be stated on the app on the chef's page, however it's always good practice to double-check with your chef.




How long in advance can I place a booking?


You can palce a booking from many weeks, down to generally 2/3 days before the booking date. Bear in mind that last minute instant bookings aren't possible, so you will have to 'request to book' a chef and they have 24h to respond to your enquiry. Generally, we recommend to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Also, remember that some chefs/menus may require several days sourcing of ingredients, hence such short notice won’t be possible. Should you require a last-minute chef for your event, please make sure you get in touch with Killer Chefs customer service via in-app live chat - we'll do our best to assist you.




Will the chef be buying all ingredients?


Yes, your chef will take care of the grocery shopping, preparation and service so all you have to do is relax and enjoy your meal.




Will the chef be using my kitchen equipment?


Yes, the chef will use your plates, cutlery and sometimes kitchen equipment (including pots, pans and utensils), so please make sure you have enough for the chef to prepare a meal for the party size stated. You can add a description and a picture of your kitchen in the app, so in case anything the chef requires is missing, the chef can come prepared.




My kitchen is small, can I still book?


Of course, as long as it’s well equipped and there is enough space on your worktop for the chef to cook. You can add a description and a picture of your kitchen in the app, so the chef can have a look at it and come well prepared.




Who cleans up?


All chefs are required to clean after themselves and to leave the worktop as much as all utensils they’ve used perfectly clean. However chefs are not required to do the washing up, if they don’t want to and can also leave before your event is over, provided that they have finished the service, all guests are satisfied and the kitchen is in good order.




When will the chef arrive?


This will depend on the menu prep time, but you can always agree arrival time with the chef after you’ve placed your booking. Please make sure you’re in!

Covid-19 Update


All of our chefs will be working within the guidelines from the government to take necessary measures to make sure you and your guests are perfectly safe. For extra peace of mind, all our chefs are experienced professionals and always practice health and hygiene-conscious food set-up, preparation and service. In light of current coronavirus concerns, we exercise even more precautions at every stage of the process.





My bookings

Can I request changes to the booking?


For any changes to the date, time and the number of guests, please contact our customer service via the in-app chat or send an email to support@killerchefs.app We will always do our best to accommodate you, but please note that in cases where your last-minute changes mean your chef can no longer make it, we may charge you a cancellation fee.




What if my chef cancels?


Our chefs are very reliable. In the rare event of a chef cancellation, you are entitled to a full refund if you or the team @ Killer Chefs can't find a suitable replacement for your event.




I have a complaint


If you are unhappy with the service received or want to give us feedback on how to improve, you can use the in-app chat function in the Killer Chefs app to get in touch with our customer service team and report any issues. You can also contact us at support@killerchefs.app. We aim to get back to you within 24 hours.




I booked one of your chefs via a different provider or directly from their website and I am not happy with the service. How can I complain?


We do not take responsibility for any booking that’s not made via Killer Chefs platform directly. Therefore, if you didn't book via us (e.g. you used a different provider, approached the chef outside of the app) and are unhappy with the service received, unfortunately cannot help.

How much time does a chef have to respond to my booking request?


Chefs have 24 hours to officially accept or decline booking requests. You'll be sent a push notifications as soon as your chef accepts or declines your booking request. If a chef confirms your booking request, your payment is processed and collected by Killer Chefs in full. If a chef declines your request or the request expires, we don't process your payment.




What is Instant Booking⚡?


Instant Booking allows you to book immediately without needing to send a reservation request to a chef for approval. When you find a chef or menu you like, you can book automatically so you are sure you don't miss out. There is no additional fee for confirming a reservation with Instant Booking.




We are a large group and my chef doesn't cater for it


If you found a chef or a menu you particularly like, but are unable to book directly via the app due to the limit to the number of people, please get in touch with the Team @ Killer Chefs and we'll be able to assist you. Why should I pay and communicate through Killer Chefs directly?


Paying and communicating through Killer Chefs helps ensure that you're protected under our Terms of Service, cancellation and refund policies and other safeguards. We can’t provide these benefits if your reservation isn’t made and paid for directly through Killer Chefs. Paying or communicating outside of Killer Chefs also makes it harder for us to protect your information and puts you at greater risk of fraud and other security issues, such as phishing.




I can't find what I'm looking for on the app, can you help me?


Of course! If you can't find what you're looking for in terms of menus, chefs, party size or simply have specific requirements, do not hesitate to get in touch with our team. We here are to help! My plans have changed, I need to cancel


We understand that sometimes cancellations are inevitable. The amount you will be refunded depends on how far in advance you cancel your booking. Cancellation terms are also clearly displayed on the app at the time of booking, so you can always double-check before you confirm.

  • If you cancel within 3 days (72 hours) prior to your booking date/time, you will be entitled to a full refund.
  • If you cancel within 1 day (24 hours) prior to your booking date/time, you will be entitled to a 50% refund.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours to your booking date/time, the booking is non-refundable.
We aim to process refunds within 7 working days of being notified.




How should I let you know about my cancellation?


At present, the only way to cancel your booking is by contacting our customer service. Just get in touch with our team as soon as possible via in-app live chat or email and we'll handle everything for you (including organising your refund if you are entitled to one).
